my speech

·         Grown up’s are usually there to help and encourage kids. They take care of them, teach them how to do things and show them the right way to behave, but most of all love them. Most adults treat kids this way but some adults treat kids completely different... Every 10 seconds a child is abused, tortured, beaten, or raped! Child abuse is not always possible to clearly isolate the types of harm to children, but these are the four main areas; Physical, Sexual, Emotional Abuse and Neglect. Physical abuse is injuries that come from hitting, throwing, shaking, burning or biting a child. Sexual abuse is forced sexual contact, or sexual activity often by an adults that the child trusts. Emotional abuse is when an adult constantly blames or puts down a child. Neglect is when an adult fails to provide for the child’s physical needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. It can also be when an adult fails to provide for the child’s emotional needs, such as affection, attention, supervision and love. What effects does a child abuse have on a child? Why do adults abuse children? There is no excuse for people to abuse children but children who were abused when they were young are more likely to be abusive when they grow up and have children. Some studies have shown that 30% of abused children grow up to be abusive parents. People would tend to question why a child who knows how hard it was when they were young would grow up and do this to their children. Children grow up thinking that everything their parents do is right. The problem is when these children are abused they don’t often learn that it is the wrong thing to do, and will be more likely to abuse their children. Some of the most horrendous stories of child abuse includes; a father who bit his child’s eye out and ate it, a baby tossed over a bridge, a teen was forced to eat her own feces and drink her own urine, a toddler died from being dunked into a pot of boiling water, a man raped an infant and adoptive parents force children to eat dog food and sleep in dog crates then burned the young children. I think child abuse is disgusting and should be stopped! No child should be abused by adults. All child abusers should be put behind bars for a long time. If parents are abusing theirs or other people’s children then they should not have the right to have children. Every year, 3 million reports of child abuse are discovered.
If we don’t STOP this ….Who will?

Title: War Horse

Author: Michael Morpurgo

Publisher: Scholastic

First Published: 1982

This is a story about a boy called Albert and his horse Joey. Joey ends up going to the war. Albert is determined that they will re-unite. Joey serves on both sides of the war. Halfway through the way when he meets a ten year old girl called Emilie. Eventually Albert finds Joey and rides Joey home. They live happily ever after.

The one part in the story I liked was when Joey was re-united with Albert, because when Albert rides Joey back to the farm and Joey sleeps alongside old Zoey back in the stable.

The part in the book I thought could have been improved was when Captain Nicholls got shot off Joey. Michael Morpurgo could at least have written anther paragraph.

Overall I thought this story was very good and interested me throughout the whole story and gave me a good picture throughout. I recommend this story to 10 years old and above because younger children might not know some of the formal Language.

We were asked to research one aspect of the history of flight. We had to put our ideas into paragraphs. How do you think I did?
The Jet Engine
In 1920 Frank whittle stared making the first jet engine. Believe  it or not  I actually thought jet were made in the early 1800. Anyway the jet engine was trialled in a N3 Hornet  well a short name for a jet plane and it worked.

The jet engine over the last 20 years has been improving and getting faster and faster. Did you know that the jet flies at 550 km an hour.

Jet engine works on a number of different fuels and fans. Fans pull the air through the turbo jet and forces it out again.

In conclusion, the  jet engine was an important thing to be able  to fly fast and it just made things a lot easier.

 I Remember…

I remember walking along a high ridge one early frosty morning Spotting a deer, slowly but carefully I lay down on the frozen ground. I clenched the bolt and moved it. I held the trigger firmly, eyes on the cross hairs on the deer’s head. I pulled the trigger, blowing the deers head into numerous puzzle pieces.
